Liberals' ultimate and unifying goal is to be able to make decisions without consequences. Whether it's on foreign policy issues or cultural issues, a life without consequences is something they strive for. Unbeknownst to liberals, all actions have a reaction. A world without consequences would be nice, but its far from the reality.
Look at the Democrats plan for an Iraq retreat. Rep. John Murtha plans to add an amendment to the defense appropriations bill that would set a 60 day time line to pull U.S. troops out of Iraq. All of the Democrats at the YouTube debate were competing to see who could retreat from Iraq the fastest. Of course, this isn't anything new from the blue side of the aisle. But what happens when you ask them about the future of Iraq? Vague ideas about "terrorist strike forces" and "redeployment" get tossed around. But what does that mean? They have no clue what they want after Iraq. They think there is no consequence to us leaving. What about genocide? Sen. Barrack Obama even went as far as saying genocide is not a good enough reason for us to stay in Iraq: "Well, look, if that's the criteria by which we are making decisions on the deployment of U.S. forces, then by that argument you would have 300,000 troops in the Congo right now — where millions have been slaughtered as a consequence of ethnic strife — which we haven't done".
Rep. Murtha's credibility grows greater with another amendment he would add to the bill: Murtha plans to close Guantanamo Bay. According to an editorial written in the Washington Times, Murtha has no plan for what will happen to the terrorists after Gitmo is closed. What are Democratic plans beyond closing Guantonama Bay? They want to give them the right to challenge their confinement in U.S. courts! Something that can't be done due to the fact that they are prisoners of war and do not have rights as U.S. citizens. Again, Democrats are acting on a narrow emotion without considering what the consequences might be if they were released or brought into our prisons.
It doesn't stop at foreign policy. Liberals demand a right to privacy,aand want to be able to have abortions on demand. If Speaker Pelosi and Planned Parenthood had their way they would set up an abortion hot-line. Liberals want to have sex and not have to face the consequences if the girl gets pregnant. They act on a narrow emotion and if anything goes wrong they expect to able to abort the baby. No harm, no fowl. Riiiight.
Look at gun control. While I was watching the Democratic YouTube debate, Joe Biden looked like the best candidate on the stage. Then, he showed his true snide liberal colors. He characterized a gun owner as not being "mentally qualified" to own a gun. If Biden and others had their way they would outlaw every handgun, rifle, pellet gun, cap gun, NERF weapon, and super soaker in the country. Then what would happen? The criminals would not only still be armed, but they wouldn't have to worry about getting shot when they broke into a house. Liberals think they are so all-knowing on all issues that they apply their narrow minded logic to the entire country. Would Biden disarm the secret service that protects him? I don't think so.
Liberals really do believe "if it feels good, do it". They act on narrow emotions that appeal to their narrow view of the world. They don't care about consequences. They loath having to account for their actions. Conservatives view of the world is much more long term and broader in scope. They are closer to ordinary people and don't impose an elitist ideology on normal people. A world without consequence would be nice, but no matter how much liberals believe in it, it doesn't exist.
